Ahead of the upcoming university enrolment period in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Albania, we would like to remind students with visual impairments that Braille information brochures are available, providing information on universities, study programmes, inclusive education, and available forms of support throughout their studies.
The brochures are available at:
- the University of Montenegro,
- Adriatic University Bar,
- the University of Tuzla,
- the University of East Sarajevo,
- the University of Bijeljina,
- the University of Vlora, and
- Fan S. Noli University.
These brochures serve as an informational resource and an additional form of support for students with disabilities, contributing to greater independence, improved access to information, and more equitable access to higher education.
Higher education is an important step towards personal and professional development, greater independence, and active participation in society. Students with disabilities have the right to equal educational opportunities and to fully realise their academic potential.
The availability of information in accessible formats enables prospective students to make informed decisions about their choice of study programme and to plan their professional future.
Today, universities are increasingly developing inclusive practices and support services that facilitate successful studies and active participation in academic life for students with disabilities. Every new enrolment represents a step towards building a society in which knowledge, education, and opportunities are accessible to everyone under equal conditions.
The brochures were developed within the Erasmus+ HAWKING project, a three-year initiative aimed at improving the accessibility of higher education and promoting equal opportunities for persons with disabilities.
The project brings together 15 institutions from the region and across Europe and is coordinated by the University of Montenegro with the clear objective of enhancing inclusion and digital accessibility in higher education, with a particular focus on students with disabilities. Project partners include universities from the region and Europe, including the Universities of East Sarajevo, Tuzla, and Bijeljina, as well as universities from Albania, Türkiye, Slovenia, Cyprus, and Portugal, together with organisations from Serbia. One of the project partners is the UDAS Organization of Amputees of Republika Srpska.
We encourage students with disabilities to visit these universities, explore the available study programmes and support services, and take advantage of the opportunity to continue their education. Your knowledge, talents, and ambitions deserve the opportunity to grow, and university can be the place where you achieve your goals and build a successful future.
